Moorings Modern Dream Home
Outdoor lighting project in Southwest Florida
The Moorings Modern Dream Home was a unique and enjoyable landscape lighting project located on the cusp between Park Shore and Moorings in Southwest Florida. When we were called into this project, the customer mentioned that he had recently had landscape lighting installed only a year ago when the home was initially built. However, he felt the design did not complement his home’s unique architectural style and had issues with brightness and uneven lighting.
After expressing his concerns, the customer asked us to take full control of the lighting design.
To start the project, we illuminated the front architecture of the home using twelve adjustable wall washes. This approach cast an even but subtle blanket of light across the front architecture. Since the front elevation features flat white stucco, stone veneer, and dark tile, it was essential to use adjustable fixtures to tweak the light output so everything illuminated evenly, regardless of the color or texture of the facade. In simple terms, dark matte surfaces absorb light, while light glossy surfaces reflect light.
After illuminating the front architecture with wall washes, we replaced four outdated coach lights that did not complement the home’s architectural style with modern coach lights (designed and built by Modern Forms) flanking the entry of the home and the garage.
