Port Royal lighting project in Naples, Florida

The Gordon’s Pass project is one of our favorite lighting endeavors, located in the prestigious community of Port Royal in Naples, Florida.

Although the customer had recently installed a landscape lighting system through their landscape contractor, they expressed a desire to start fresh with a completely new lighting design.

During our initial site visit, we discovered through a series of thought-provoking questions that the customer spent a lot of time outdoors enjoying his beautiful and unique landscape. However, he mentioned that inadequate lighting often forced him indoors during the evening hours.

Understanding the customer’s primary goal of enjoying his property well into the evenings, we began by focusing on illuminating his outdoor living spaces.

We started with the house, as it is typically the most reflective portion of the property. We illuminated the front and side elevations, particularly those adjacent to outdoor living spaces. This not only added drama to the house but also reflected a significant amount of usable light back into the surrounding landscape.

Next, we assessed the landscape and noticed many 100+ year old Banyan trees that deserved to be highlighted. The customer had an orchid garden growing in these Banyans, so we used large outdoor-rated crystal pendants to draw attention to his robust orchid collection. While these pendants cast usable light into the adjacent outdoor living space, we also illuminated the trees foliage from three separate angles, allowing the customer to enjoy these mature specimens from all his outdoor and indoor living spaces.

To complete the design, we installed up-lighting throughout the property’s perimeter and incorporated path lights and indicator lights throughout heavily trafficked areas, ensuring the homeowner could navigate the entire property with ease.
