SouthWest Florida Landscape Lighting Project
Windstar on Naples Bay is a pristine community in Southwest Florida. Windstar approached Beacon Outdoor Lighting early in their renovation of the Club House, Marina, and driving range.
In our initial meetings with Windstar’s managers and design professionals, it was clear they felt previous lighting projects had not effectively complemented the space. Listening to the community’s concerns and understanding their goals, we prioritized enhancing safety and security in outdoor living spaces while also adding much needed drama and flare to the outdoor living spaces.
Our lighting design began with illuminating the mature Royal Palms flanking the community’s front entry, guiding guests to the clubhouse. We then added architectural lighting to the entry columns, ensuring the Club’s architecture stood out within the landscape.
To ensure safe passage, we installed numerous path lights along the walkways. At the community’s request, we addressed concerns about insufficient lighting on the cart path leading to the docks and golf course. Instead of using excessive path lights, we installed wide-angle uplights to illuminate the adjacent Clusia hedges. The glossy, reflective nature of Clusia created a dramatic effect while providing adequate illumination along the cart path for safety and security
To complete the design, we installed residential-sized bollards in high-foot-traffic areas for additional illumination. Initially, the project included about 200 lighting fixtures, but as board and golf members saw the impact, it quickly expanded to over 500 fixtures.
